HAZELL AND JEFFERIES RATE RENAULT TRUCKS RANGE C “CLEAR DRIVERS’ FAVOURITE”
Following a competitive trial and evaluation process, civil engineering and road surfacing specialists, Hazell and Jefferies Ltd, has selected Renault Trucks to join its 37-strong tipper fleet for the first time. The decision to order eleven 32 tonne Renault Range C430 8x4s, supplied by Renault Trucks South, was the result of head-to-head tests against Mercedes, DAF and Volvo, with the Range C’s outstanding performance in operation sealing the deal. Hazell and Jefferies has now taken delivery of three Range Cs with Wilcox Wilcosteel tipping bodies, with a further seven Range Cs with Fitzgerald tipping bodies and one Range C with an Aluminium PPG Fabrications body on order.
Wrapped in Hazell and Jefferies’ striking yellow and blue livery, the Range Cs operate across the whole of the South of England for the company’s aggregate deliveries, road planing, surface dressing and general highways work.
Richard Hazell Managing Director, explains why he opted for the company’s first Renault trucks: “When pitched against Mercedes and DAF, the Range C was the clear favourite with our drivers. It was as though the vehicle had been built specifically for the tipper trade and we loved that the gearbox automatically selected the right ratio for the work we do. The outstanding product performance in test drives, combined with a competitive package and friendly and supportive staff at our local Renault Trucks dealer in Reading was the most attractive deal.”
“The vehicles have certainly made a big impact in a short space of time,” said Richard. “Everyone is really bowled over, including one of our longest standing DAF drivers, who is now a Renault Trucks’ convert after getting his hands on the new Range C. The good-looking trucks, combined with our eye-catching livery, are certainly making a statement out on the roads.”
Richard continued: “We will be looking at fuel efficiency figures when the trucks have been out for a few more weeks, but early MPG figures are good and we hope this will improve further as the vehicles run in.”
