OUTSTANDING PAYLOAD SEES PJ DAVIDSON SELECT RENAULT KERAX FOR NEW BUSINESS DIRECTION
"Optidriver gearbox is a great.”
A brand new venture for concrete paving specialists, PJ Davidson UK Ltd., has seen the company take delivery of five new Renault Kerax 430 8x4 rigids, fitted with Bay-Lynx volumetric mixer bodies. Supplied through Renault Trucks distributor, JDS Truck and Van, they are the first trucks that the company has ever bought.
The vehicles, which have Optidriver+ automated gearboxes, will be used to transport, mix and pour concrete on site, as part of PJ Davidson’s contract to install central reservation barriers along the M25.
Joe Anning, Fleet Manager, PJ Davidson UK Ltd. says: “This is a new and exciting development for the company and we looked very carefully at the vehicle options available. The main reason for choosing the Renault Kerax is the outstanding payload capacity of the truck. The ability to mix and pour large amounts of concrete on the move saves time and makes for a much smoother, more efficient operation - with a maximum 42 tonne GVW, the Renault Kerax stole the day.”
He continues: “The Kerax also drives really well. The cab is comfortable, well laid out and the Optidriver gearbox is a great feature.”
PJ Davidson UK Ltd. is based in Exeter, Devon. Peter Davidson started the business in 1978, using County tractors and tipping trailers to haul materials for larger contractors in the concrete business. Today the company has grown to be a leading force in slipform concreting, with contracts for major projects in the UK and Europe, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Heathrow Airport and much of the UK’s motorway network.
