UK’S FIRST RENAULT TRUCKS RANGE T520 WITH HIGH ROOF & FLAT FLOOR DELIVERS 10% FUEL SAVING FOR STS LOGISTICS
"The bigger cab and rest area, high roof and ease of access to the cab have all helped to make our drivers’ job easier and more comfortable.”
Refrigerated haulage specialists, STS Logistics Oswestry, has seen the UK’s first Renault Trucks Range T520 high roof, flat floor sleeper deliver a 10% fuel consumption saving in the first two weeks of operation. The left hand drive vehicle, supplied by Renault Trucks Midlands, is the first Renault in the 8-strong STS Logistics’ fleet. Renault Trucks’ reputation for fuel consumption, reliability and driver satisfaction were all key factors in STS Logistics’ vehicle selection.
The Range T, which began work in May, is delivering frozen food from the Midlands to London and Kent, returning to the Midlands from Kent with fresh fruit and vegetables.
STS Logistics Ltd was set up in 2010 by Andrew Morris and his business partner Chris Jones. Commenting on the decision to bring the company’s first Range T into its fleet, STS Logistics’ Director, Andrew Morris, says: “My family and I have always been loyal to Renault Trucks since my father owned one of the very first Magnums in the 1990s which proved to be a very reliable vehicle. Our new Range T has only been on the road for two weeks but I’ve been delighted with its performance so far. In particular, the fuel consumption, which is critical in our business, appears to be very good with initial indications suggesting that we are getting approximately one mpg (or 10%) more than our other DAF and Mercedes vehicles.”
Andrew continues: “We also selected the Range T with our drivers in mind. The bigger cab and rest area, high roof and ease of access to the cab have all helped to make our drivers’ job easier and more comfortable.”
Steve Parry, Renault Trucks Midlands, says: “Andrew and Chris have been a pleasure to deal with. I am delighted that they have chosen Renault Trucks’ new Range T to extend their fleet and that the truck is already exceeding their expectations for efficiency, performance and driver satisfaction.”
Steve adds: “It’s also great to hear that, as a result of the Renault Trucks’ new technology, STS Logistics is already achieving a preliminary 10% fuel saving and I would expect that to improve further as the vehicle is run in.”
