34 RENAULT PREMIUMS FOR CANUTE GROUP MAKES ‘RED LORRY, YELLOW LORRY’ EASIER TO ARTICULATE
"These new Renault Premiums are the first step in increasing our presence again."
Global supply chain provider, Canute Group, has taken delivery of 34 Renault Premium 460.25 6x2 tractor units with Privilege cab and Optidriver gearbox, supplied by Renault Trucks Essex. Bringing to mind the famous ‘red lorry, yellow lorry’ tongue twister, 20 of the Premiums which will operate on behalf of Wilkos are painted its bright red company colours, while the remaining 14 Premiums are in Canute’s distinctive yellow livery and will work on the Group’s growing specialist building materials division.
The 20 red Premiums will operate for service Centres delivering to Wilkos stores across the UK. Operating nationwide, moving building materials from UK factories to constructions sites, the 14 yellow construction-spec Premiums will pull trailers with mechanical off-load facilities. Several are fitted with specialist equipment that includes blower packs for discharging pressure tankers.
Overall, the Premiums will increase the size of Canute’s specialist building materials division fleet as well as replacing some existing Euro 4 vehicles. Wayne Marshall, Director, Canute Group, says: “Before the credit crunch, we were the largest independent operator of manual off-load vehicles with a fleet of 174 delivering building materials nationwide. Now the construction industry is starting to pick up and the outlook for 2014 is looking stronger, the time is right to invest in our construction fleet. These new Renault Premiums are the first step in increasing our presence again and developing this sector for our group and will give us the flexibility to become one of the largest construction operators in the UK once again.”
Commenting on Canute’s decision to purchase 34 red and yellow Renault Premiums, Peter Thirkettle, Renault Trucks Essex says: “Canute Group is one of the leading operators in our region and we are delighted to see the company taking delivery of more Renault trucks and rebuilding its construction fleet.”
