RENAULT TRUCKS SHOWCASES ENHANCED SAFETY FEATURES OF CONSTRUCTION RANGE AT CLOCS PROGRESS EVENT

WEDNESDAY 23RD MARCH

Renault Trucks UK is showcasing the enhanced safety features available on its construction range at the fifth Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) event tomorrow (23 March 2016) at ExCeL London. Attending the exhibition underlines Renault Trucks’ commitment to improving the safety of all road users and in particular addressing the challenges faced by construction vehicles operating in urban environments.

Visitors to the Renault Trucks stand will see a 32-tonne Range C460 8x4 with Night & Day cab and PPG insulated tipping body to Tarmac specification. Enhanced safety features include nearside Glass Vision Door with additional lower window for improved visibility of vulnerable road users; cycle monitoring system (cycle camera, side cycle sensor, turning left speaker and relevant cyclist warning decals) and side guards to protect cyclists from being pulled under the wheels in the event of a collision. In addition a Jimmy Beam Down Light system delivers a footprint of lights along the sides of the vehicle as a suggested ‘keep clear’ area for cyclists and pedestrians when the truck is stationary or travelling up to 15mph, which also illuminates with the sidelights and flashes with the indicators.

Ideal for both on and off road use, the Range C’s multi-axle chassis can be specified with front under-run protection and also off-road defined N3G. The ergonomic driving position and clear, intuitive cab layout with everything in easy reach, together with Renault Trucks’ Optidriver automated gearbox, lets the driver concentrate on the road.

The design of windscreen and rear view mirrors allows optimum visibility, whilst cornering lights provide greater safety when manoeuvring.

“With construction vehicles involved in a number of accidents relating to pedestrians and cyclists on our congested city roads, Renault Trucks is determined to improve road safety through intelligent vehicle design and enhanced safety features across the entire range,” comments Nigel Butler, Commercial Director at Renault Trucks UK.  “CLOCS is the ideal event for us to demonstrate this commitment to protect all road users.”
