UK’S LAST RENAULT MAGNUMS FLY THE FLAG FOR FREIGHT TRANSPORT

UK’S LAST RENAULT MAGNUMS FLY THE FLAG FOR FREIGHT TRANSPORT

The last two Renault Magnums to be sold in the UK have been delivered to international freight forwarding company, Freight Transport Ltd. The two Renault Magnum 480.25 6x2 tractor units, supplied through Renault Trucks distributor, Sparks Commercial Services, join the company’s 25-strong mixed fleet, replacing Scania and DAF as the company builds its Renault fleet.

The Renault Magnums will predominantly operate on long-haul journeys to the South of France, transporting specialist goods from the company’s base in Portsmouth.

Andy Bearryman, Managing Director, Freight Transport Ltd., says: “We decided to replace our Scania and DAF with the new Renaults based on the impressive performance and reliability of two Magnums already on our fleet. We have had them for five years and they are still going strong.”

He continues: “The new trucks will operate on our longer distance routes and so driver comfort is a priority. The Magnum offers excellent on-board comfort, with a spacious cab and excellent storage. Combined with its power and reliability, we believe the Magnum is a great long-haul vehicle that suits our operation perfectly.”

Andy also cites the close working relationship with the Renault dealer as a key purchase factor. “Sparks is a local dealer we can trust to undertake our servicing and maintenance - an important factor these days as the last thing a company needs is costly downtime. They put together an excellent sales package for us and we look forward to growing the relationship in the future. We now have nine Renaults on our fleet - a mix of Premiums and Magnums and are very interested in seeing the new range of trucks that Renault Trucks has just launched in more detail, when they arrive in the UK shortly.  We would like to replace more of our vehicles with Renaults in the future.”

Freight Transport Ltd. was established in 1988 and specialises in the transport of specialist products to and from France, as well as into many European and Scandinavian countries. The company is located in Portsmouth, benefitting from the direct ferry links with Le Havre, Caen, St. Malo, Cherbourg and Bilbao. Freight Transport has a fleet of 25 HGVs and 40 trailers. It also has its own warehouse and distribution centre in Portsmouth and an office in Dover.
