McCann Logistics chooses 12 Renault Trucks T Highs for fleet renewal, raising awareness of men’s mental health charity
Jan. 8 2026
McCann Logistics has strengthened its UK fleet with the addition of 12 new Renault Trucks T High 480 6x2 TML Turbo Compound tractor units, marking the company’s first-ever move to the Renault Trucks brand. Two of the new vehicles will proudly display ANDYSMANCLUB’s powerful “It’s okay to talk” message, further strengthening McCann’s partnership with the men’s mental health charity.
The Immingham-based operator selected the T High after a competitive tender process in which Renault Trucks and local dealer Thompson Commercials impressed with their responsive approach, driver-focused specification and strong whole-life cost proposition.
“From day one, Thompson Commercials listened,” said Mark Brighton, General Manager at McCann Logistics. “Both Renault Trucks and Thompsons worked with us, offered sensible numbers, and delivered everything we asked for – from driver comfort features to a maintenance programme we could trust. We’ve not been able to fault the process.”
Expanding fleet confidence and driver comfort
The new T High tractor units, supplied on a five-year contract through Renault Trucks Financial Services and equipped with Optifleet telematics, are powered by Renault Trucks’ advanced DE13 Turbo Compound (TC) 480hp engine. The Turbo Compound technology utilises an additional turbine to recover waste exhaust energy and convert it into extra torque at low engine speeds, improving fuel efficiency and helping the trucks maintain speed on gradients with fewer gear changes.
Further fuel-saving technologies such as Optivision map-based gear shifting and Smart Torque Control will support McCann’s focus on efficiency and predictable running costs.
Configured as 480 6x2 TML tractor units, the trucks are designed for long-distance haulage and have been specified to McCann’s requirements, featuring:
- Rear interior cab lockers
- Microwaves and inverters for improved driver comfort
- Finished in RAL 3000
The order followed extensive discussions between McCann Logistics and Thompson Commercials, with McCann’s drivers trialling a demonstrator before final specification. Positive feedback on fuel performance, manoeuvrability, cab space and overall comfort made the high-cab model the natural choice.
A long-established logistics specialist
Founded over 40 years ago, McCann Logistics has grown from a UK distribution business into a major international trailer operator, with core markets in Belgium, Holland and Germany, importing and exporting through the ports of Immingham and Purfleet.
Part of the Brickability Group, McCann supports a wide range of construction and industrial customers. Around 35% of its work is dedicated to group companies — transporting bricks, roofing tiles, solar panels and associated materials — while the remaining volume covers third-party cargo, including steel, waste products, chemicals and general freight. The business operates more than 180 trailers alongside its 12-vehicle UK truck fleet.
Operating exclusively across the UK, the new Renault T Highs will each cover around 1,400 miles per week, supporting both group and third-party deliveries nationwide — from Aberdeen in the north to Taunton in the south — across construction sites, farms, industrial facilities and distribution hubs.
Driving mental health awareness with ANDYSMANCLUB
McCann Logistics’ partnership with ANDYSMANCLUB began a few years ago when the charity collaborated with the business at a local Armed Forces Day event. Two McCann trailers already carry full ANDYSMANCLUB branding, but the charity’s message will now be extended to two of the new Renault trucks — making McCann one of the only UK operators running both truck and trailer in matching AMC livery.
ANDYSMANCLUB operates hundreds of free, peer-to-peer drop-in support groups nationwide on Monday nights, providing a safe, judgement-free environment where men can talk openly about their mental health.
One of the new trucks will carry a deeply personal tribute: a McCann driver recently lost his son, Sean Dawson, to suicide, and with his permission, Sean’s name will appear on one of the ANDYSMANCLUB-liveried vehicles.
“It’s a small gesture, but it means a great deal to our driver and his family,” said Mark Brighton. “Supporting AMC is incredibly important to us, especially given the male-dominated sectors we deliver into. If even one man decides to attend a Monday night support group because they saw one of our vehicles, then it’s worth everything.”
Sean Gill, Regional Lead – East of England at ANDYSMANCLUB, commented: “Having McCann Logistics stand with Andy’s Man Club in this way means more than we can put into words. Seeing our branding carried on their trucks and trailers isn’t just advertising, it’s awareness in motion. Every journey they make takes our message into towns, villages, and workplaces we may never physically reach. And every leaflet their drivers hand out on deliveries becomes a conversation starter, a lifeline, or a reminder that no man has to struggle alone.
“For us, this partnership is powerful. It shows what can happen when businesses step up and use what they have and in this case, their fleet and their people, to shine a light into the darker corners where stigma still lives. McCann Logistics aren’t just supporting a charity; they’re helping carry hope, connection, and support to men who might be one moment away from needing it. We’re genuinely grateful for the impact this will have and proud to have them as part of the Andy’s Man Club family.”
Thompson Commercials proud to support McCann’s next chapter
The new trucks will be maintained by Thompson Commercials Grimsby, with driver familiarisation and ongoing support provided as part of the contract. The collaboration builds on the strong partnership developed during the tender process, where Thompsons worked closely with McCann to shape the specification, support package and driver experience.
Keith Ottley, Sales Projects Manager at Thompson Commercials, said: “We are delighted that McCann Logistics has chosen Renault Trucks for the first time in its history. The T High is ideally suited to their long-distance UK operations, and we are especially proud to help support the vital work of ANDYSMANCLUB through this fleet. We look forward to supporting the team at McCann’s and building on this partnership over the coming years.”
