From first pilots to industrial deployment: building the future of low-carbon transport together
For Jacky Perrenot, electrification is not an experiment. It is a strategic transformation that is already underway. As one of France’s leading transport and logistics operators, the group is progressively integrating electric trucks into its operations to reduce its environmental footprint while maintaining the performance and service levels expected by its customers.
This transition has been built hand in hand with Renault Trucks. Through route analysis, vehicle simulations, charging strategy, driver support and continuous operational monitoring, the partnership demonstrates how electric mobility can move from ambition to reality.
Today, with nearly 100 electric trucks in operation and more than 200 charging points deployed across France, Jacky Perrenot is helping shape the future of sustainable transport.

Decarbonisation without compromise
For Jacky Perrenot, the objective is to reduce the overall footprint of transport while maintaining service quality. "Electric trucks are part of the energy mix. They are not the solution for every application, but for some uses they are clearly the best solution," explains Corentin.
With 10% of its operations already electrifiable today without workflow changes, the company's strategy is pragmatic: deploy where it creates immediate value. As Guillaume emphasizes, electrification is about identifying the right applications and building confidence through real-world experience.
The goal is not to decarbonise by reducing our activity. The goal is to continue growing while reducing our impact.
From prototypes to industrial deployment
Long before electric trucks became mainstream, Jacky Perrenot was already working with Renault Trucks on early prototypes and pre-series vehicles.
This early collaboration allowed both teams to test vehicles in real operating conditions, compare theoretical performance with reality and progressively build confidence.
"We were involved from the very beginning. Renault Trucks gave us access to prototypes and pre-series vehicles so we could test them in real-life operations," says Corentin.
Today, the relationship has evolved from testing to industrialisation. What began as a pioneering project has become a long-term deployment strategy supported by continuous operational feedback.
For Guillaume, this close collaboration is essential.
We work together every week. The objective is not simply to deliver a vehicle but to continuously improve how it is used and integrated into operations.
Simulations that turn uncertainty into confidence
To address range concerns, Renault Trucks supports customers with advanced simulation tools that model routes, vehicle weight, and operational constraints. "We would pre-select routes and then review them with Guillaume. The simulations helped us move from assumptions to real testing," says Corentin
According to Guillaume, the accuracy of these tools is a major strength: "Today, the difference between simulation and reality is less than 3%. Customers can genuinely project themselves into future operations and make decisions with confidence."
At the beginning, having Renault Trucks analyse our data was reassuring. It helped us understand all the operational implications before making decisions.
A charging strategy designed around operations
Charging infrastructure is often perceived as one of the biggest barriers to electrification. For Jacky Perrenot, it quickly became a strategic advantage.
The company has deployed more than 200 charging points across France, ranging from 22 kW AC chargers for overnight charging to 400 kW fast chargers that support intensive operations and multiple vehicle rotations during the day.
The philosophy is simple: use every available downtime period to recharge vehicles and maximise utilisation.
"Our main challenge is charging. We use every opportunity — overnight stops, driver breaks or vehicle downtime — to maximise vehicle availability throughout the day," explains Corentin.
Renault Trucks supported the project by helping determine charging requirements, evaluating compatibility between vehicles and infrastructure, and advising on charging strategies adapted to operational needs.
"They opted for a mix of AC and DC charging, allowing them to adapt to different operational scenarios and optimise vehicle utilisation," says Guillaume.
Winning over drivers: from scepticism to enthusiasm
Like many fleet operators, Jacky Perrenot initially faced driver hesitation regarding range and charging. However, experience quickly changed perceptions. "At first there is hesitation. Then comes a week of anxiety. After that, it's pure enjoyment," says Corentin. Drivers now benefit from less fatigue, lower noise levels, and a highly comfortable experience.

Guillaume recalls a driver whose electric truck was temporarily in maintenance: "When we told him his truck would only be ready an hour later, he asked us to delay his route rather than return to a diesel vehicle."
Once the first driver has made the switch, their colleagues start asking when they can get an electric truck too,

Throughout the project, Renault Trucks has provided much more than trucks.
The partnership includes route analysis, charging advice, driver training, operational monitoring, aftersales support and ongoing performance optimisation.
For Corentin, responsiveness and expertise are fundamental.
"Guillaume is available, understanding and professional. When issues arise, we need answers quickly — and he is there for us."
Guillaume describes the relationship as a continuous process rather than a one-off project.
"We are present from the first discussions about electrification through to vehicle delivery and then throughout the entire operating life of the vehicle."
This long-term approach has helped Jacky Perrenot move from initial deployment to large-scale adoption while maintaining confidence in every stage of the transition.
