From vision to reality: how a tailored electric truck fleet proves that zero-emission transport already works
Transitioning to electric transport is not only about adopting new vehicles - it is about transforming operations, infrastructure and people.
With Renault Trucks as a long-term partner, Rensa Family Company has successfully integrated electric trucks into its daily distribution activities
while building one of Europe’s most ambitious charging infrastructures.
Watch the video: two perspectives, one shared journey
In this cross-interview, Bob Lammers, Head of Transport at Rensa Family Company, and Jacqueline Starken, Operational Efficiency Specialist at Renault Trucks, share their experiences of the transition to electric mobility.
Their combined perspectives highlight how collaboration, expertise and trust helped turn a strategic vision into operational reality.

A tailor-made solution built around real operations
Every electrification journey begins with understanding the business. Rather than applying a standard configuration, Renault Trucks and Rensa worked
together to analyse routes, payloads, volumes and energy requirements.
“We sat down together to look at our routes, transport volumes and weights to define the right vehicle” says Bob, highlighting the collaborative approach
behind the project.
Each vehicle was evaluated individually by Renault Trucks to ensure performance aligned with operational needs. “We analysed each truck according to Bob’s demands regarding range and usage” explains Jacqueline, underlining the importance of a vehicle-by-vehicle strategy.
This tailor-made methodology ensured that electrification was not theoretical
- it was designed around real logistics challenges.
“We created the solution together - routes, volumes, weights and battery capacity were all part of the discussion.”
Charging infrastructure designed for long-term growth
Electrification at scale requires more than trucks. Rensa’s new logistics site, which will be ready by 2030, includes a charging hub, designed to evolve with the company’s future fleet.
Infrastructure planning meant coordinating multiple stakeholders and anticipating long-term energy needs. The decarbonization study served as the basis to determine the feasibility of operating electric trucks on the new Rensa site.
“A very interesting and enlightening process with a lot of data analysis. The only way to make the perfect match between vehicles, current facilities and needed energy supply, is to do this together”, Jacqueline describes.
The result is a future-ready charging environment aligned with operational flows and sustainability goals.
“This isn’t just about installing chargers - it’s about planning energy, operations and growth together.”
Real-world performance validated by data
Before making the transition, Rensa conducted a nine-month testing programme with several transport partners, using demo trucks across different industries and use cases. Shared data and real operational feedback helped confirm the feasibility of electric mobility.
Rensa’s trucks typically drive around 279 kilometres per day, well within the electric range of approximately 380 kilometres.
“It always has a bit of power left, which makes it ideal for us,” explains Bob.
According to Jacqueline, the range is more than sufficient for daily operations, sometimes requiring minor adjustments in driving style or route planning.
“Drivers may adapt slightly, but the trucks have enough battery capacity for their work,” she adds.
Renault Trucks: more than a supplier, a partner
Throughout the project, Renault Trucks acted as a strategic partner, supporting Rensa from early analysis to daily operations. Simulations, support with infrastructure planning, training and data monitoring ensured a smooth transition.
“I’d definitely recommend Renault Trucks - they’re a reliable partner,” says Bob, emphasising the importance of ongoing support.
Jacqueline highlights the collaborative ecosystem behind the scenes: dedicated teams, external specialists and continuous coordination helped align technical expertise with customer
“We have a dedicated team who knows the ins and outs of electric and support customers throughout the transition.”
Bringing drivers on board: the key to a successful transition to electric trucks
Technology alone does not drive change - people do. For Bob, the biggest concern at the start was driver acceptance rather than vehicle performance.
Drivers were involved early in testing, creating a space for feedback and learning. Initial scepticism quickly turned into enthusiasm once drivers experienced the comfort and quietness of electric trucks. One senior driver even asked to keep driving the electric vehicle until retirement - a strong symbol of adoption.
Jacqueline confirms that proper guidance makes a major difference:
“When drivers are well instructed, their doubts disappear very quickly,” she says, noting how drivers began challenging each other to optimise efficiency.
A shared commitment to decarbonisation
The transition is part of Rensa’s broader ambition to become CO₂-neutral by 2030.
Electrification not only reduces emissions but also prepares the company for future regulations and operational efficiency gains.
For Renault Trucks, projects like this represent more than technical deployments - they are partnerships built around shared vision.
Jacqueline describes the experience as inspiring: being part of a customer’s sustainability journey and helping shape the future of transport.
Renault Trucks is committed to supporting customers throughout their electrification journey. Working with companies across multiple industries, Renault Trucks has developed strong expertise in tailored consultancy, efficient deployment, and end-to-end operational support. This expertise underpins the Renault Trucks E-Tech Programme, a trusted partner for the transition to electromobility.
Let's talk solutions, not just trucks
Rensa Family Company’s experience proves that electric trucks are well-suited and ready for daily distribution.
Through tailored engineering, large-scale infrastructure and strong collaboration, Renault Trucks has helped transform a strategic ambition into everyday performance.
Together, Rensa and Renault Trucks demonstrate that the road to zero-emission logistics is not a distant goal - it is already underway.
