Stagefreight, a transport expert for theatre, film, music, exhibitions and events, has taken delivery of its first ever Renault trucks, three Range T480 4x2 High Cabs, from local dealer JDS Trucks and Vans. Citing the vehicle’s stylish design, reliability, safety features, spacious cab, as well as a bumper-to-bumper R&M package and competitive deal, Stagefreight has added the Range T Highs to its 30-strong HGV fleet to transport stage, sound and lights for major live music events and theatre tours across the UK and abroad.

Ian Uttley, Stagefreight Company Director, explains why he swapped from a competitor manufacturer for their latest additions: “We were won over by the T High’s reputation, its sturdy chassis, reliable engine, good looks and great space in the cab. The addition of the new T Highs helps to emphasise Stagefreight’s commitment to, and reputation for, efficiency, time-scheduling and reliability.”

As well as reducing its carbon footprint, safety considerations were a top priority for Stagefreight. The T Highs are equipped with enhanced safety features such as the Lane Departure Warning System, AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System) and the award-winning Anti-Runaway Automated Park Brake.

“Our company is all about safety and these features were just what I was looking for,” Ian adds. “98% of our fleet is now Euro VI and with the T Highs, which are new, modern and as clean as possible, we are doing the best we can to reduce our environmental impact as well as putting road safety first.”

The tractor units are powered by Renault Trucks’ DTI 13 litre engine, which produces 473hp and 2400Nm of torque; behind this is a twelve-speed Optidriver automated transmission system.

For Ian, the T High’s flat floor and higher cab were key considerations in his vehicle selection: “We have to think carefully about our drivers, who can be out on the road for up to 16 weeks on a tour, and they really need the extra space. More room to move around helps them to have a more comfortable life on the road.”

Cab interiors have been specified for long distance trips with multiple nights away, and feature two bunks including the ‘Ultimate’ upper bunk that transforms into storage with access ladder and luggage net, easy access air suspended seat with leather trim and 40L ‘quiet’ fridges.

Ian is full of praise for the Renault Truck dealer who put together the package: “It’s our first time doing business with JDS Trucks and Vans and, as well as a fantastic vehicle for a competitive deal, the five year bumper-to-bumper R&M package was the icing on the cake – it just takes away all the stress.”
