Renault Trucks has announced the addition of 15 new Range T 460 6X2 to the fleet of leading logistics and materials management provider, ASCO Group. The Range Ts have been brought in specifically to boost the 60-strong Renault Trucks exclusive line up, and will be providing waste, fuels and cargo transportation for the gas and oil industry.

Supplied by Renault Trucks Scotland on a five year operating lease deal, the new Range Ts are replacements for the existing Premiums and have been selected for their performance and styling as well as first class after sales service.

Paul Davidson, Transport Operations Manager, ASCO UK explains: “We have been working with Renault Trucks for over twenty years and all the logistics as well as our Waste Business and Fuel and Lubes run Renault Trucks. So, when we were looking for replacements, they were our natural first choice - we simply had no reason to look elsewhere.”

Paul continues: “We have been very pleased with the product over the years and the new units are no exception; we are delighted with these too. We appreciate the value and styling and, in our experience, the fuel economy is very good.”

It was ASCO’s long standing relationship with leading Renault Trucks service provider in the North East of Scotland, Alex Aiken, that was a key reason for selecting the latest additions: “Not only is Renault Trucks a trusted brand, we have an excellent working relationship with their after sales dealer Alex Aiken who understands ASCO and the nature of our time-critical business. They will always go the extra mile for us, and are very responsive to our requirements,” explains Paul.

Working out of ASCO’s Peterhead bases, the new Range Ts will be travelling as far as Montrose and Edzell to the south, and Peterhead to the north, as well as reaching Scrabster and Invergordon during periods of bad weather offshore. The waste vehicles in the north run as far as the North West of England and the Range T stationed in Great Yarmouth covers the South of England.

The vehicles have been fitted with many features to enhance the driver experience including ultimate leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control, air-suspended driver’s heated seat with adjustable lumbar support, one-touch electric windows, comfort air conditioning, remote control for all comfort functions in the bunk area and two loudspeakers and two tweeters.

There are some nice finishing touches on the trucks too which really enhance the look including cab paint colour-matched components including fog lamp trims and front bumper corner pieces. Appealing to drivers was important and the Range Ts have hit the spot as Paul explains: “The trucks look very professional on the road, enhancing the drivers’ satisfaction in the job they do. Their feedback has been very positive with style, comfort, and a smooth driving experience mentioned regularly. They hold the road well and our drivers are proud to drive them.”

As well as looking good on the outside, the Range Ts are fitted with some of the latest technology including sensored braking, lane departure warning system, adaptive cruise control as well as Renault Trucks’ acclaimed Optidriver gearbox with automated clutch and steering wheel mounted gear selector.

“The trucks fit seamlessly into our operation and the day-to-day activities we carry out and of particular note are the positive fuel economy figures as well as the styling and overall value. In addition, all the new Range Ts are Euro VI which helps to reduce our carbon footprint. We are delighted with our new vehicles.” concludes Paul.

Keith Johnston, Renault Trucks Scotland’s Transport Solutions Executive comments on the deal: “It is testament to our working relationship and strong product performance that ASCO have once again turned to Renault Trucks for its latest vehicles. We are delighted to have been chosen and look forward to working closely with them on their future vehicle requirements.”
