Our heritage

The Renault Trucks story began in Lyon more than a century ago, when Marius Berliet invented his first engine. Over the decades, the industrial success of our brand has been driven by the passionate women and men who have been guided in their work by true visionaries: Louis Renault, Marius and Paul Berliet.

We have been designing tomorrow’s trucks since 1894 staying loyal to the motto of our founder, « It is on the field we find the solution ».

Renault Trucks has been part of the Volvo Group since 2001. The Volvo Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial engines. The Group also provides complete solutions for financing and services.

Today, we are proud of this belonging, which encourages us to always go further and provides us with the solid foundation and strengths of a world class organisation.

Renault Trucks' heritage

True makers. True partners.

At Renault Trucks, we are at the forefront of transport and mobility transformation.

Women and men across our organization, our dealer network, our partners, and our customers act, build, and solve with a shared, forwardlooking mindset.
We design purposedriven transport solutions combining vehicles, services, digital tools, and operational support, engineered for realworld use.

We are true makers: because value is created end-to-end, pragmatically, across our ecosystem and in direct connection with our customers.

We are true partners: because progress is built through long-term collaboration, working side by sideevery day, internally and externally.

This is why our brand tagline is: True makers. True partners.

Circularity

Since 2021, our “Used Trucks Factory” has reconditioned nearly 1,200 vehicles, adapting them for new purposes such as converting long-haul tractors into rigid trucks (P-Road) or construction vehicles (X-Road) delivering flexibility and reinforcing our commitment to circularity. Similarly, through our Restart program, we give products a second life. By refurbishing, reusing, and recycling, we reduce waste and maximize resources turning sustainability into action and creating real value for our customers and the planet.
