Leading Highlands haulier, Baillie Brothers (Contractors) Ltd, has opted for the new Euro 6 Renault Trucks Range C over MAN and Foden as a robust and reliable replacement vehicle.  Joining Baillie Brothers’ 27-strong fleet, now over half Renault Trucks, the 32 tonne Range C430 8x4, supplied by Elgin Truck and Van Centre Ltd, is fitted with an Atlas 135.2 crane and body built by P.M.H Coachbuilders near Glasgow.

The new Range C was put straight through its paces delivering blocks for a local quarry, across the challenging environment of the West Coast and North of Scotland. Baillie Brothers’ Director, Kenny Baillie, explained why he selected the new Range C: “We have worked with Renault Trucks for many years and the vehicles are very well suited to our business - the Range C is reliable and robust, yet light.  We also have an excellent dealer, Elgin Truck and Van, close by for all our service and back up support.”

Kenny continued: “Driver acceptance is a key factor for us in vehicle selection, so it’s important that they are impressed. The driver has been with us for a long time and he absolutely loves driving the new Range C. Its increased cab space, multiple storage areas and tasteful interiors offer a really comfortable life on board. He particularly likes the automated gearbox which is making his job much easier and more enjoyable. Obviously fuel consumption is important to the profitability of our business and this is improving all the time with the Range C as the engine beds in. We are getting, on average, 7.8 mpg which is very impressive for a new vehicle on this hilly and hard-going terrain.”
