RTC & Leighton Buzzard Ruck Convoy 2018

Renault Truck Commercials is proud to sponsor the Dunstable & Leighton Buzzard Truck Convoy on Saturday 9th June, 2018.  In its fourth year, the big haul, which raises money for military charities Scotty’s Little Soldiers, Pilgrim Bandits and Royal British Legion Riders, is a celebration of the transport industry and our armed forces.

Some 160 trucks, many driven by ex-military personnel, will meet at Flamstead Truckstop Junction 9 of the M1 at 10am. 102 year old war veteran, Wally Randall, will cut the ribbon to start the convoy on its 17 mile route through Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard town centres before arriving at its final destination, Billington Showground, for a family fun day, with live bands, stalls and fairground attractions.  At 10pm, two military buglers will perform the last post; after a two minute silence, all the trucks on display will perform a spectacular ‘light-up’, blazing headlamps and lightbars and sounding their horns.

Convoy organiser Graham Munt will drive the lead truck, followed by three of BMD Transport’s distinctive Renault Trucks Range Ts, each emblazoned in a charity-themed livery.

Inspired by his eldest son, who served for 22 years in the forces, and his own career as a professional truck driver at FA Hawkins Transport, Graham created the Dunstable Truck Convoy in 2014 and has seen the event grow rapidly year on year.

“Following the success of last year’s event, which saw over 3000 people line the streets of Dunstable, we are delighted to extend the convoy route through Leighton Buzzard. Convoy 2018 promises to be even bigger and better, with a huge gathering of trucks from across the UK and abroad, a fun festival, as well as special guests including members of Leigh Rigby’s family and Billy Byrne from BBC’s DIY SOS,” says Graham.

In addition to sponsoring the Convoy, Renault Truck Commercials is providing its hospitality unit for the family fun day.

“The Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard convoy is a great local event that shines a light on the proud professional drivers of our transport industry, and raises money for very good causes,” says Clare Hall, Marketing Specialist, Renault Truck Commercials. “We are proud to support Graham and his team and look forward to what promises to be a hugely enjoyable event.”
