KJ Transport enhances fleet efficiency with 10 new Renault Trucks T480 Turbo Compound tractor units

KJ Transport, part of the Fred Sherwood Group, has taken a step forward in its fleet modernisation with the acquisition of 10 Renault Trucks T480 Turbo Compound tractor units. This investment reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to improving operational efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing driver wellbeing.

Like many fleet operators in the industry, KJ Transport faced increasing pressure to improve fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs; lower emissions and strengthen sustainability credentials; maintain high standards of driver comfort and safety; and replace ageing vehicles with modern, compliant alternatives.

Existing trucks in the fleet were becoming less efficient, prompting the need for a solution that aligned with both environmental and operational goals.

KJ Transport opted for the Renault Trucks T480 Turbo Compound model as a replacement for part of its existing fleet. While turbo compound technology has already been successfully adopted across other areas of the Fred Sherwood Group, this marks its first integration within KJ Transport operations.

The trucks were supplied by RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV), a trusted partner with whom the Group has built a strong, long-standing relationship based on transparency, reliability, and high-quality service.

1) Improved Fuel Efficiency

The introduction of turbo compound technology enables enhanced fuel efficiency and CO2 reduction of up to 10%.  This reduced fuel usage contributes directly to lower operating costs and supports sustainability goals.

The Renault Trucks T480 contributes to improved environmental performance. Renault Trucks received a Gold EcoVadis sustainability rating, demonstrating the brand’s strong ESG alignment. The reduction of carbon emissions with the Turbo Compound technology positions KJ Transport as a responsible operator within the logistics sector.

3) Advance Safety Standards

The vehicles have achieved a 4-star Euro NCAP rating, proving safety is a top priority. These enhanced safety features, such as hill start assist, lane assist, and emergency braking systems, provide greater protection for drivers and other road users.

4) Driver Comfort and Wellbeing

The cab features the “COMFORT” driver's seat, featuring height memory settings, seat ventilation and adjustable lumbar support; an integrated 24 litre refrigerator; air conditioning for climate control; cruise control; and a digital dashboard for improved usability. The cab reflects Renault Trucks’ driver-centric design, ensuring a more comfortable and productive working environment.
