Following impressive fuel performance from a Range T demonstrator, Devon general haulier, CP Long Transport Ltd, has taken delivery of its first Renault truck - a 44-tonne Range T520 6x2 tractor unit.

Striking in C P Long’s green and white livery, the high-spec Range T was selected for its fuel economy, maintenance package and the competitive deal, as owner Clive Long explains: “Our operation has been very busy and we are getting more and more requests for our services. I was looking to replace a Scania and we had a Range T demonstrator in from Renault Trucks South West. The most impressive feature was the 1mpg fuel improvement which is crucial in helping to run a profitable operation. The overall offer on the table including the comprehensive maintenance package and competitive price helped to seal the deal.”

Since the vehicle has been on the road, working on the company’s general haulage operation, Clive Long has been particularly impressed by its performance under difficult circumstances: “We are working the Range T very hard, it’s fully-loaded and operating on some challenging roads in Devon and Cornwall, but it’s holding up extremely well and we are very pleased.  We definitely made the right decision in switching to Renault Trucks and I will certainly be considering them for any future vehicle needs.”

Driver appeal has also been an important consideration too: “Our drivers have been amazed by the new Range T. It’s a really good lorry. They like all the extra room in the cab and have made several positive comments about how quiet and how nice it is overall to drive,” comments Clive, adding, “Keeping our drivers happy is crucial to running a successful operation and the Range T is certainly ticking all the boxes. “

Clive Long also highly rates the customer service from the team at Renault Trucks South West as he explains: “The salesman, Roger Millett, is so knowledgeable about the truck and has been extremely helpful throughout. From the initial contact, to delivery of the vehicle and on-going support, nothing has been too much trouble for Roger; I can’t praise him enough for all the help he has given us. The team at Exeter has also been brilliant, the truck went in last week and it was back out on the road with minimal downtime. I can’t ask for more than that.”
